In the prestigious setting of Villa Madama, the President of Technital Zeno D'Agostino spoke at the event organised by OICE in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency for the ‘Presentation of the 2025 Foreign Report’. In his speech, he recalled how the role of Italian engineering is to bring beauty and functionality to the world, as our history continues to teach us every day, in the cities where we live, from Verona to Rome. Starting with Raffaello Sanzio, the first designer of Villa Madama, we arrive at Leonardo da Vinci with his “Ideal City” designed for Ludovico il Moro, considered the first to imagine a smartcity hashtag: a vision that still inspires those who design infrastructure for a sustainable and people-friendly future. A challenging legacy, but one that gives us a natural competitive advantage: the ability to combine ingenuity and sensitivity, technique and beauty.
