In Palermo, there is a river that flows unseen. It is the Passo di Rigano Canal: the second most important waterway in the city.
Today, however, that hashtag#river has completely disappeared in the urban section. It flows under busy roads and densely populated neighbourhoods, becoming an invisible but high-risk element: when the rains are heavy, Palermo too often ends up under water.
For this reason, the Government Commissioner for Combating Hydrogeological Instability in the Sicilian Region has entrusted hashtag#Technital with the management of the works for the construction of the new flood control reservoir for the Passo di Rigano Canal. This strategic project, costing around £13 million, will become a real lifeline for hashtag#hydraulic safety in the city.
The flood control reservoir will regulate water flow during heavy rainfall, temporarily retaining water that would otherwise end up in the already overburdened urban system.
This is a fundamental intervention to protect Palermo, its urban fabric and the daily lives of its citizens.
